Foreign Investor Buybacks Turn Positive in February: OJK

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Foreign investor sentiment rebounded in February 2026 after turning bearish at the beginning of the year. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded a net foreign purchase of IDR 360 billion (approx. USD 21.29 million), reversing a net sale of IDR 9.88 trillion in January.
This development was reflected in the domestic stock market throughout February. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed at 8,235.49 on February 27, 2026, down 1.13 percent month-to-date and 4.76 percent year-to-date.
The average daily transaction value of shares reached IDR 25.62 trillion, maintaining market liquidity above IDR 20 trillion since August 2025. Retail investor transactions accounted for 53 percent in February, compared with 58 percent in January.
Acting Chief Executive of Capital Market, Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision at OJK, Hasan Fawzi, said pressure in the stock market began to ease in February. “We see pressure in the domestic stock market gradually easing in February 2026,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He added that OJK continues to monitor volatility in early March, triggered by escalating geopolitical conflict in the Middle East. “We are monitoring market movements and coordinating with the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) to take the necessary policy measures,” he said.
In the bond market, the ICBI composite index as of February 27, 2026, strengthened 0.45 percent month-to-date to 442.12. Average yields on Government Securities (SBN) rose 1.76 basis points month-to-date and 10.04 basis points year-to-date. Non-resident investors recorded a net sell of IDR 3.35 trillion in SBN and IDR 0.30 billion in corporate bonds.
The investment management industry continued to grow, with assets under management (AUM) reaching IDR 1,115.71 trillion as of February 26, 2026, up 1.11 percent month-to-date and 7 percent year-to-date. The net asset value (NAV) of mutual funds stood at IDR 726.26 trillion, supported by a net subscription of IDR 16.09 trillion month-to-date and IDR 43.12 trillion year-to-date.
The number of capital market investors increased by 1.8 million as of February 25, 2026. On a year-to-date basis, the total number of investors rose 12.34 percent to 22.88 million.
Corporate fundraising in the capital market reached IDR 39.09 trillion from 32 Debt Securities and/or Islamic Bonds (EBUS) offerings. In securities crowdfunding, 13 new securities raised IDR 23.65 billion as of February 26, 2026, with four new issuers. In total, 1,008 securities have been issued by 596 issuers and 194,497 investors.
In the financial derivatives market, 113 parties had obtained principal approval from OJK between January 10, 2025, and February 20, 2026. During February 2026, transaction volume reached 29,514 lots with 234,951 transactions.
On the Carbon Exchange, launched on September 26, 2023, 153 service users had registered as of February 27, 2026. On February 2, 2026, transaction volume increased by 2,218 tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent), bringing the total accumulated transaction value to IDR 91.87 billion. ***
