RRI.CO.ID, Kendari - Approximately 560 kilograms of clams from Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, were officially shipped to Thailand after undergoing strict quarantine procedures. The fishery commodities were packed in 19 boxes and facilitated by the Southeast Sulawesi Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency (Sultra Quarantine Agency).

This export was conducted to meet Thai market demand while maintaining local fishery product quality standards. The monitoring process was carried out before the commodities left the exporter's Fish Quarantine Facility.

Head of the Fish Quarantine Team, Amsal Sallolo, said that officers ensured that all documents and the physical condition of the products complied with regulations. “Our officers conducted administrative checks to ensure the product types matched the documents, and physical checks on the commodities and packaging,” said Amsal in an official release from the Sultra Quarantine Agency in Kendari on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

He explained that his team also regularly conducts laboratory testing for the Perkinsus olseni pathogen, either through monitoring of Good Fish Quarantine Practices (CKIB) or in response to specific requests from the destination country.

“After all the inspection procedures have been completed and the products have been declared healthy, the Southeast Sulawesi Quarantine Agency issues a Fish Health Certificate as a guarantee that the products are safe, good quality, and eligible for the Thai market,” said Amsal.

The head of the Southeast Sulawesi Quarantine Agency, A. Azhar, emphasized that all exported fishery products must undergo quarantine procedures in accordance with international standards. “This supervision is our commitment to supporting regional commodity exports,” he said.

Azhar hopes that this export facilitation will encourage Southeast Sulawesi fisheries businesses to increase shipments of leading commodities to international markets. “With the right procedures, we ensure that products from Southeast Sulawesi are highly competitive in the global market,” he said. ***
