RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) is targeting the drilling of 100 exploration wells in 2026 as part of its ambitious “Triple 100” program.

“For 2026, we have an ambitious Triple 100 program: 100 exploration wells and 100 wells with multi-stage fracturing,” SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto said in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

To support the multi-stage fracturing (MSF) program, SKK Migas has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Schlumberger Geophysics Nusantara (SLB Indonesia) to prepare the necessary drilling units.

Djoko said that as of February 2026, SKK Migas had secured an additional 13 exploration wells through approved Work Program and Budget (WP&B) documents. For the MSF program, six additional wells have also been obtained.

“We still need additional efforts throughout the year until December: 48 more exploration wells and 77 more multi-stage fracturing wells,” Djoko said.

The MoU between SKK Migas and SLB serves as a strategic collaboration framework to accelerate production increases, including the implementation of MSF technology to enhance reservoir productivity.

The partnership aims to optimize reservoir management, particularly in complex fields, through technology utilization, knowledge transfer, and the adoption of global best practices that can be replicated across Production Sharing Contract (PSC) working areas.

The collaboration will integrate upstream processes, from subsurface evaluation and well design and construction through the production stage. It is expected to improve operational efficiency, accelerate technology implementation, and strengthen national capacity in upstream oil and gas management.

SKK Migas is optimistic that the cooperation will add value for Production Sharing Contract Contractors and contribute to the sustainable achievement of national production targets, reinforcing Indonesia’s energy resilience. ***
