RRI.CO.ID, Jepara - The Tatah 2026 Woodcarving Art Exhibition attracted more than 68,000 visitors in Jepara on Monday, July 27, 2026. The exhibition continues until August 2, showcasing Indonesia's renowned woodcarving heritage.
Jepara Regent, Witiarso Utomo, appreciated everyone supporting the exhibition's successful organization. He said Jepara woodcarving represents both a cultural legacy and an important creative economic asset.
The regency government remains committed to preserving the tradition through stronger ecosystems and artisan regeneration. It also supports research development and empowerment of woodcarving artists.
Witiarso described the inaugural exhibition as an important foundation for future editions. He said continuous evaluation would improve its impact on more Indonesian woodcarving artists.
The regent also expressed support for the Tatah Exhibition Trilogy initiative. He said the program would introduce more Jepara woodcarving masters to wider audiences.
"This first Tatah Exhibition provides the foundation for future exhibitions, so evaluation is necessary. We hope the next exhibition will benefit even more woodcarving artists," he said.
In addition, he encouraged greater participation from young artists and talented artisans from rural communities. The exhibition is expected to become a stage for emerging Indonesian woodcarving talent.
During the event, the regency government honored 38 recipients, including masters, artists, artisans, assistants, academics, communities, and partners. It also distributed Jepara Furniture Card assistance to furniture and woodcarving workers.
