KBRN, Jakarta: Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi ensured that the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) transportation services ran smoothly and efficiently. This can be seen across all modes of transportation, including land, sea, and air, rri.co.id reported.

"During Nataru 2024/2025, we will continue to visit ports and see firsthand the readiness of sea transportation facilities and infrastructure. We speak to many passengers and see firsthand the readiness and feasibility of the ship facilities that the public will use," Dudy Purwagandhi said in a press statement in Jakarta on Monday (Dec 30).

The Transportation Minister appealed to all sea transportation service providers to prioritize passenger security and safety to provide optimal service.

"Together with Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, we reviewed the facilities at the passenger terminal and greeted the passengers of the KM Labobar Ship. This ship will sail from Jakarta to Surabaya, Makassar, Baubau, Ambon, and several areas in Papua," said Dudy.

Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta is one of the crucial points of passenger movement in and out of Jakarta. As previously predicted, the number of sea transportation passengers and crossings increased during Nataru compared to regular days based on state-owned Indonesian shipping company (PT Pelni) data.

"The realization of PT Pelni passenger ship ticket sales from and to Tanjung Priok from December 11, 2024, to January 8, 2025, reached 13,425 people. With the most populous routes to Makassar in South Sulawesi, Batam in Riau Islands, and Belawan in North Sumatra," he said. ***
