KBRN, Jakarta: In a few days, the entire world including Indonesia will celebrate the New Year's Eve 2025. There are many things to celebrate a New Year's Eve, one of the most common is fireworks.

Due to the high risk involved, fireworks use is strictly regulated in Indonesia. The Indonesian government has issued several regulations regarding fireworks usage.

This regulation aims to make the activities of the community during New Year's Eve safe and comfortable. Here are some rules on the use of fireworks.

1. Article 3 of Indonesian Police Chief Regulation No. 17/2017 on Licensing, Security, Supervision and Control of Commercial Explosives

2. Article 1 (1) of Emergency Law No. 12/1951 which carries a maximum penalty of a death sentence for those involved in the production of explosive and firecrackers.

3. Article 187 of the Criminal Law which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment to anyone convicted of causing fire due to the use of explosive or firecrackers.

Metro Jaya Regional Police has previously issued rules regarding the types of fireworks that could and could not be used during the 2025 New Year celebrations in Jakarta. The policy was conveyed by Metro Jaya Police Spokesperson Com. Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his press statement on Sunday as quoted by rri.co.id.

“Every public activity (fireworks party) that causes a crowd of more than a few people should be informed to the nearest police station,” said Ade.

Ade explained that the National Police has made preventive efforts by providing information and education and ensuring that police officers are present at every public activity. ***
