KBRN, Cannes: Indonesia's Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, sees the Cannes Film Festival as a vital platform to showcase the richness of Indonesian culture and cinema. He believes the event strengthens networks that allow Indonesia's film industry to compete internationally.

"Indonesia is ready to bring color to the global film scene by highlighting the nation's cultural wealth through collaboration with all stakeholders, both domestically and abroad," Minister Fadli said in a press release on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

He highlighted Indonesia's growing film industry, noting that the country produced over 200 films in 2024. Indonesian cinemas recorded 122.7 million moviegoers, with 81 million watching locally produced films—a record-breaking achievement.

36 Indonesian films have been selected for prestigious international film festivals in the past two years. Among them are Pangku, Renoir, Ikatan Darah, Timur, Sleep No More, and Jumbo.

"Jumbo is an animated film that broke records with nearly 10 million viewers. I am proud that several well-made Indonesian films are now ready for release in the international market," Minister Fadli said.
