KBRN, Jakarta: The government of Indonesia readied the Satellite of the Republic of Indonesia (SATRIA)-1 for outermost areas in the country. This was part of the government's effort in bringing equal digital connectivity development in underdeveloped, outermost, and remote areas - which the government officially abbreviated as "3T".

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/5/2025) said that the internet access in 3T areas would be served by the SATRIA-1. He also said his ministry's Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency will study the case and then provide the service sports for education, health, government, and defense.

"SATRIA-1 can run around 3 to 4 Mbps," said Nezar Patria.

While this effort aims to cover blank spots, the deputy minister said for non-3T areas or commercial areas, the government would encourage cellular operator to build BTS (base transceiver station) to improve the connectivity. "Specific for blank spots, we can provide support," said Nezar Patria.

Quoted from the ministry's official page, Deputy Minister Patria further remarked that at the same time his ministry would also improve people's digital literacy. This aims to empower more people to be ready in using the existing digital connectivity for more impactful activities.

Not only for the people, this digital capacity building according to Patria would also aim regional government apparatus with Digital Talent Scholarship and Digital Leadership Academy. This is part of government's program in accelerating the electronic-based government system (SPBE).
