TNI AU Affirms Commitment to Regional Stability

KBRN, Jakarta: Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, stated that the 22nd ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (AACC) affirmed a shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The highest rank official at the Indonesian Air Force conveyed at the opening of the 22nd AACC in Jakarta, Monday (8/9/2025).

In a Press Release received by RRIVOI on Tuesday (9/9/2025), the conference was attended by Air Force Chiefs of Staff from ten countries: Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

Air Marshal M. Tonny stated that this conference brought together the Air Force Chiefs of Staff as colleagues, partners, and friends. "This conference provides an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen professional ties, and explore ways to enhance cooperation," the Air Force Chief of Staff stated.

Themed "ASEAN Inclusivity and Sustainability of Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations," the conference continued with presentations from the Air Force Chiefs of Staff, starting with Indonesia.

In his presentation, Air Marshal M. Tonny emphasized that Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) are not about a show of force, but rather about humanity, how the air force ensures the safety of citizens in times of crisis. He believes this spirit aligns with the principle of One ASEAN, One Response.

The Air Force Chief of Staff also affirmed that cooperation in the region must be inclusive and sustainable. " Our cooperation must also be inclusive, ensuring that every country has a role, and sustainable, so that the structures we build today remain strong in facing future challenges," Tonny added.

The conference concluded with the handover of the AACC Chair from the Indonesian Air Force to the Philippine Air Force.

"For us, this leadership is an opportunity to showcase the spirit of cooperation that is at the heart of ASEAN," the Air Force Chief of Staff conveyed.
