RRI.CO.ID,Jakarta - Indonesian climber Raviandi Ramadhan is embracing a unique challenge at the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, scheduled for September 19 to October 4, as the only national athlete competing in both lead and boulder disciplines.

With just over a month remaining before the continental event, the 23‑year‑old is determined to turn intensive preparation into a historic double gold.

“The target is definitely gold. The way to achieve it is through hard training, because I’m the only one competing in two disciplines, so I’ll give my maximum effort,” Raviandi said at the national training camp in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday, July 27, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He admitted his current form looks stronger in lead, thanks to more frequent try‑outs and international competitions that have sharpened his experience.

Still, the coaching team has tailored a program to balance both events, maintaining physical intensity in the coming weeks before shifting focus to technical refinement and movement literacy in the final phase.

Raviandi emphasized that his family’s support, free from pressure, allows him to enjoy the process and treat each training session and competition as valuable experience. That mindset, he believes, will help him perform at his best when the Games open on September 19.

The Indonesian Sport Climbing Federation (FPTI) will send five athletes in lead and boulder. Raviandi will partner with Tri Putra Ramadani in lead, while in boulder he will compete alongside his twin brother, Ravianto Ramadhan. The women’s team features Sukma Lintang Cahyani and Alma Ariella Tsany in lead.

With preparations intensifying, Raviandi is expected to deliver not just medals but a milestone moment for Indonesian climbing at the Asian Games. ***
