RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia international Beckham Putra has reaffirmed his commitment to the national team after facing criticism and an unpleasant encounter with a supporter following Indonesia's FIFA Matchday victory over Mozambique.
The incident occurred after Indonesia's 1-0 win at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show Beckham, a Persib Bandung player, receiving hostile treatment from an individual supporter in the stadium.
The situation reportedly led Beckham to confront the supporter before teammate Kevin Diks intervened and helped calm tensions.
Despite the incident, Beckham stressed that his dedication to representing Indonesia remains unchanged.
"I always give 100 percent, or even more, of my ability for Indonesia. Whatever is said out there will not change my commitment to keep fighting for the Red and White," Beckham wrote on his Instagram account on Wednesday, June 10, as quoted by Antara.
The 24-year-old described the experience as part of his personal growth and thanked both supporters and critics for helping him become stronger.
"Every experience is a lesson that helps me continue to grow. Thank you to those who continue to believe in me, and thank you also to those who make me stronger," he said.
Since making his senior international debut in June last year, Beckham has earned eight caps and scored two goals for Indonesia. Both goals came during head coach John Herdman's debut match in March, when Indonesia defeated Saint Kitts and Nevis 4-0.
Beckham started Indonesia's 3-0 victory over Oman last Friday and played 56 minutes before making a brief substitute appearance in the win over Mozambique.
Reflecting on his national team journey, Beckham said wearing the Garuda crest represents much more than individual success.
"For me, a national team call-up is not just a personal achievement. It is the result of a long journey, hard work, sacrifices, and dreams that have been pursued for years," hi said.
He added that it.was an honor that deserves to be respected by anyone who gets the opportunity to wear the Garuda emblem on their chest.
"When a player steps onto the field to represent Indonesia, I stand there as a son of the nation entrusted with carrying the hopes of millions of Indonesians," he concluded. ***
