At 77 years old, the man often hailed as the heartbeat of Indonesian rock has passed away. He succumbed to a courageous battle with complex health issues, including sarcopenia, vascular blockage, and autoimmune complications.

The news was confirmed by the band through a poignant black-and-white tribute on their official Instagram account. The announcement honored the man born Jidon Patta Onda Gagola, who remained a symbol of musical resilience until his final days.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi rojiun. Donny Fattah—bassist, one of the founders of God Bless, and our beloved brother, has passed away at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta," the band wrote.

The statement continued with a plea for grace. "Please forgive any of his mistakes. May his deeds and kindness be accepted by His side. Aamiin ya robbal aalamiin."

As reported by Antara, beyond his half-century tenure with God Bless, Donny’s influence permeated the entire industry. As a songwriter and producer, he was instrumental in shaping the careers of rock royalty like Nicky Astria, Ikang Fawzi, and he was a core member of the supergroup Gong 2000.

Despite his declining health in recent years, his commitment to his craft never wavered. He famously continued to treat the stage as his sanctuary, refusing to let his physical limitations dampen a passion that began when he co-founded God Bless in the early 1970s.

Tributes have begun pouring in from across the creative community, with prominent music producer Adib Hidayat among the first to express his condolences publicly on X. Currently, the late musician is being laid out at the Fatmawati Hospital funeral home.

While a final schedule has yet to be released, the family has indicated that Donny will be laid to rest at the Kampung Kandang Cemetery.
