KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian entertainment world mourns the loss of legendary artist Titiek Puspa, who passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 4:25 p.m. local time at Medistra Hospital, Jakarta, rri.co.id. reported.
Titiek Puspa's carrier began to soar in the country's entertainment world after winning the Entertainment Category of the Central Java Radio Star Contest in 1954.
Before her passing, legendary artist, singer, and composer Titiek Puspa was hospitalized for several weeks and underwent head surgery to address bleeding.
Multi-talented artist Titiek Puspa was born Sudarwati on November 1, 1937, in Tanjung, South Kalimantan. Sudarwati's name was later changed to Kadarwati before finally being changed again to Sumarti.
Titiek was her familiar nickname throughout her life, while Puspa, meaning "flower," was her father's name. On the entertainment stage, Titiek Puspa was recognized as a versatile and professional artist who excelled in various fields.
She contributed to various fields, including acting, music, advertising, choreography, and theater. Her journey in Indonesia's entertainment industry began with her fascination for Javanese singing, which marked the start of her illustrious career.
Titiek Puspa is recognized for secretly participating in music festivals, without her parent's knowledge, which led to her remarkable achievement of winning the Central Java Radio Star Championship in 1954.
