KBRN, Aceh: Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, reported on the progress of flood and landslide disaster management in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra at a press conference in Aceh, Tuesday (12/2/2025). Along with representatives from Aceh Communication, Information and Encryption Agency (Kominsa) and National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), he said that there are at least three vital aspects that are currently being accelerated for recovery.

“There are three areas of focus for the restoration of vital infrastructure, namely transportation infrastructure, particularly land routes, communication infrastructure related to telephone access and GSM-based communications, and energy access, particularly electricity and fuel,” Abdul stated.

At the same conference, the Head of the Kominsa Aceh, Edi Yandra, explained in more depth about the development of communication facilities. He said that Kominsa Aceh had received 20 communication facilities from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). This assistance has now been distributed to several districts, including Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Tengah, Gayo Lues, Aceh Tenggara, Bener Meriah, and Pidie Jaya.

“To date, we have received 20 units of assistance from the Komdigi Ministry, which we have allocated to several districts,” Edi said.

In addition to the Ministry, several other parties have also provided free internet access at several hospitals, media centers, and offices in Aceh.

Meanwhile, a representative from BPJN, Faisal, provided an update on the condition of roads and bridges in the eastern, central, and western routes. He explained that the eastern route had suffered severe damage with the collapse of two main bridges, namely the Krueng Tingkeum and Teupin Manee bridges. He then outlined a temporary solution to accelerate the functionalization of the route.

“For the time being, we will use a bailey bridge for three months. We have already begun preparations for the installation of the bailey bridge, which has arrived at the location. We hope that within the next ten days, it can be completed and become functional,” he explained.

Finally, Abdul Muhari conveyed that the full functionality of the eastern route would make a huge difference in speeding up logistics distribution compared to the current situation.
