KBRN, Jakarta: Local Muslim fashion designer Ayu Dyah Andari has revealed that this year's Eid al-Fitr fashion trends lean towards the 'old money' style.
According to her, nowadays, people lean towards more conservative clothing choices rather than overly expressive styles.
"This year's Eid fashion trend, as I see it, is moving towards simple, elegant, old money style. People seem to be toning down their expressive side. I see people now gravitating towards that, becoming more conservative because it looks more expensive," said Ayu when met in Jakarta, as quoted by antaranews.com on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
She explained that this style emphasizes an elegant impression without being flashy. It uses neutral tones such as brown, white, and blue, with touches of maroon.
"Calm colors that don't scream 'hello, I'm here.' The 'old money' style is for people who don't want to stand out in a crowd and shout; they prefer to be noticed elegantly," she explained.
Regarding clothing choices, younger generations tend to favor coordinated suit sets, while older individuals prefer dresses.
"Young people go for tops and bottoms. Because I've dealt with several customers, most likely young people want pants, but their mothers prefer dresses," she added.
Furthermore, she added that the pashmina hijabs are popular among women.
"One thing that remains clear is that pashminas are still popular. Their popularity is growing. I've noticed a shift in our boutique, where customers who initially wore Paris hijabs (square-shaped hijab with lightweight fabrics) now ask for pashminas," she concluded. ***
