KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) urges parents to ensure children have quality time during the semester break and the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays.

"Semester breaks, Christmas, and New Year holidays provide an important opportunity for parents to fulfill their children's right to leisure, a fundamental right enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Child Protection Law," Aris Adi Leksono, KPAI Commissioner for Education, Leisure, and Culture, said on Tuesday, as quoted by rri.co.id.

Commissioner Aris said that utilizing leisure time was crucial amid the challenging children's growth, ranging from mental health, social development, and overall well-being in an increasingly challenging digital environment.

He emphasized that quality family time during leisure periods offers numerous benefits for children. These include strengthening emotional bonds between parents and children, creating cherished memories, and providing opportunities for children to relax and de-stress.

"From a psychological perspective, quality family time fosters self-confidence in children. They feel loved and valued, develop empathy, learn to understand the feelings and needs of others, and cultivate a strong sense of identity and family values," he explained.

"Furthermore, leisure time provides valuable educational opportunities. Children learn through experience and interaction with family members. These experiences enhance their social skills, communication abilities, and creativity, while also inspiring them with new perspectives,” he concluded. ***
