RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Gereja Batak Karo Protestan (GBKP) Museum vividly showcases the arrival of the Gospel in Karo Land alongside the spiritual and cultural journey of the Karo community. Located in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, this special museum serves as a vital documentary space linking religious values with local heritage.

Operated specifically as a religious and cultural institution, the museum focuses on the history of evangelism and church development within the Karo context. It functions primarily as an educational medium designed to help visitors understand how faith and tradition shape community identity.

Owned and managed directly by the Karo Batak Protestant Church, the institution reflects the religious community's ongoing commitment to preserving its historical legacy. Although it is currently unstandardized institutionally, it continues to serve as an important focal point for church history and cultural preservation.

The inception of the museum began alongside preparations for the GBKP 100th Jubilee celebration, which marked a century of Christianity in the region. The foundational stone for the facility was officially laid on July 30, 1990, within the historic GBKP 100th Jubilee Park complex.

While the museum currently holds a minimal physical inventory, it remains a powerful center for narrative history and educational exploration. Exhibits and displays center heavily on honoring the sacrifices of early missionaries and celebrating the integration of Karo culture into church life.

The core vision of the museum is to inspire society to deeply appreciate both ethnic Karo culture and the selfless dedication of early missionaries. Its mission is further carried out by exploring and preserving local heritage to serve as an effective educational tool for the public.

Visitors can access the museum throughout the week according to its scheduled hours, with an affordable admission fee of three thousand rupiahs. Through its strategic role, the museum bridges faith, history, and culture, creating a lasting educational resource for current and future generations.
