RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Daerah Deli Serdang Museum has officially gained attention for its distinctive architectural design inspired by traditional Malay philosophy. Located in Lubuk Pakam, North Sumatra, this cultural institution serves as a vital educational hub for preserving local history.

Managed by the local Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Department, the institution is owned by the Deli Serdang Regency Government. It functions as a public platform dedicated to safeguarding the region's rich heritage for the general public.

Classified as a Type C general museum, the facility houses diverse collections relating to local culture and general history. This classification enables the institution to provide visitors with a broad cross-section of historical and cultural narratives.

The development of the museum began in 2001 through local municipal funding before its initial inauguration on August 12, 2003. A newly constructed building at the Lubuk Pakam sports and arts center was later inaugurated on September 8, 2018.

Reflecting its cultural identity, the museum building was specifically designed using the traditional Malay architectural concept known as "Itik Pulang Petang." This unique design symbolizes obedience, order, and harmony, perfectly mirroring the traditional values the institution aims to convey.

Spread across three floors, the museum features over 300 historical and cultural artifacts spanning prehistoric times to the post-independence era. Visitors can explore various exhibitions, including traditional clothing, ancient inscriptions, fine arts, and numismatic collections.

Through its vision of becoming a competitive cultural center, the museum actively fosters local history education and community engagement. It continues to play an essential role within the national museum network by strengthening national cultural identity.
