RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Historic Dutch office transforms into Kota Tebing Tinggi Museum, capturing the rich historical journey of North Sumatra's local community. Established in 2014 and inaugurated by Mayor Ir. H. Umar Zunaidi Hasibuan, this cultural institution serves as a vital public learning space.

The building itself holds immense historical value because it originally functioned as a Dutch administrative office before undergoing several transformations. Over time, it served alternative purposes such as a city hall before officially being established as a museum.

Classified as a general museum owned by the Tebing Tinggi City Government, its daily operations are managed by UPTD Museum Kota Tebing Tinggi. Although currently categorized as below standard in institutional ranking, the museum remains dedicated to continuous growth and management improvement.

Operating under the vision of becoming a historical preservation center, the institution highlights both local and national cultural expressions. Its core mission focuses on transforming the museum into an effective educational service provider and a compelling cultural tourism attraction.

Visitors can plan their trips to the museum located in North Sumatra, which opens from Tuesday to Saturday between 08.00 and 16.00 local time. Sunday visits are available starting at 08.00 local time for an affordable admission fee of Rp5,000, while Mondays and public holidays remain closed.

Even though the museum currently holds a limited physical collection, it actively utilizes visual narratives and thematic exhibitions to educate the public. These exhibits guide students and tourists through various historical chapters spanning the royal era to the post-independence period.

Ultimately, this transformed colonial landmark stands as a crucial pillar for building historical awareness and cultural pride in Tebing Tinggi. Through ongoing development and dedicated management, the museum holds immense potential to become a premier regional educational destination.
