RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Kota Lhokseumawe Museum features 10 Aceh history collections that serve as a vital center for the preservation of local culture and heritage. The museum stands as an important educational space, allowing visitors to explore the rich social and historical journey of this coastal Acehnese city.

Established in 2014 and located on Jalan Teuku Hamzah Bendahara, the museum building features traditional Acehnese architecture alongside a dedicated storage hall. The official grand opening took place on October 18, 2019, inaugurated by the Mayor of Lhokseumawe, Suaidi Yahya, accompanied by traditional arts performances.

Owned entirely by the City Government of Lhokseumawe, the institution is managed directly by the local Education and Culture Office. Institutionally classified as a general museum under developing standards, it continues to improve its facilities and management systems step by step.

The main highlight of the institution is its 10 core historical collections that represent the unique local culture and past events. Among these featured items are former mayoral portraits, vintage pistols, historical cannons, traditional plates, and various antique jars.

Beyond the main artifacts, the museum also preserves ancient items such as swords, golden coins, traditional fishing tools, and heritage Al-Qur'an manuscripts. These diverse collections aim to strengthen cultural awareness and foster a deep sense of pride among the younger generation.

Operating under a clear vision to support education and heritage preservation, the museum welcomes visitors from Monday through Saturday with free admission. Visitors can explore the exhibits during designated weekly hours, though the facility remains closed on Sundays and official public holidays.

Through continuous development and community engagement, this cultural landmark holds immense potential to become a leading educational tourism destination in Aceh. Its presence ensures that the historical legacy of Lhokseumawe continues to inspire future generations.
