Indonesia Ranks Second in ASEAN for Michelin Keys 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has reinforced its position as a hospitality powerhouse in Southeast Asia after 47 domestic hotels and resorts secured Michelin Keys 2026 at Global Michelin Guide. This achievement places Indonesia second in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region for the highest number of Michelin Keys hotels, trailing only Thailand.

Reflecting on these accolades, Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, urged the industry to capitalize on this momentum to maintain quality and enhance Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness. “Let us use this momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a superior, competitive, and sustainable world-class tourism destination,” said Minister Widiyanti in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Out of approximately 9,000 properties worldwide, Indonesia secured three hotels and resorts for the 3 Keys qualification, 11 properties for 2 Keys, and 33 properties for 1 Key. The full list was officially published in the latest Michelin Keys edition on September 18, 2026.

As reported by Antara, the three properties awarded 3 Keys (An Extraordinary Stay) are Nihi Sumba (Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara), Amanjiwo (Magelang, Central Java), and Mandapa Ritz-Carlton Reserve (Ubud, Bali).

Eleven hotels and resorts earned the prestigious 2 Keys designation. The recipients include Amankila, The Sanchaya, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Soori Bali, Capella Ubud, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Bvlgari Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Buahan a Banyan Tree Escape, The Langham Jakarta, and Raffles Bali.

Thirty-three properties received 1 Key. Among them are Como Shambala Estate, Capung Sebali, Amandari, Viceroy Bali, Bisma Eight Ubud, Plataran Komodo Resort and Spa, Desa Potato Head Bali, Blue Karma Village, Cap Koroso, and Hotel Tugu Lombok.

Additionally, this category includes La Reserve 1785 Canggu, Lost Lindeberg, The Puri Villas and Spa, Revivo Wellness Resort Nusa Dua Bali, Nirjhara, Jimbaran Puri: A Belmond Hotel Bali, and Samsara Ubud.

Other 1 Key recipients include The Ridge Bali, The Legian Seminyak, Raffles Jakarta, Hotel Le Temple Borobudur, The Dharmawangsa Jakarta, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Innit Lombok, and Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta.

The list is completed by The St. Regis Jakarta, The Ungasan Clifton Resort, Jumeirah Bali, Desa Hay Canggu, Park Hyatt Jakarta, Ta’aktana Luxury Collection Resort and Spa Labuan Bajo, The Orient Jakarta, and The St. Regis Bali Resort.

Three Indonesian hotels also successfully entered The 50 Best Hotels 2026 list. One of them is Desa Potato Head Seminyak, Bali, which ranked 21st thanks to its unique combination of a boutique hotel, beach club, art center, and strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

Meanwhile, Nihi Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara placed 35th through its blend of world-class luxury, traditional architecture, and local cultural preservation. Following at 61st, Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Bali offers luxury service standards integrated with Ubud’s natural beauty and local wisdom.

Previously in 2025, 33 Indonesian hotels and resorts had already entered the Michelin Keys list. This also positioned Indonesia as the country with the second-highest number of Michelin Keys hotels in Southeast Asia after Thailand.

All hotels and resorts on the Michelin Keys 2026 list are the result of strict selection based on five main criteria. These criteria cover architectural design and harmony, consistency of staff service, unique character, and tangible contributions in delivering authentic local experiences for guests. ***
