Indonesia Logs Rp12.8 Billion Potential Transactions in India

RRI.CO.ID, Pune - Indonesia recorded Rp12.8 billion in potential transactions during Sales Mission Pune 2026. The business event also projected 1,582 Indian tourists traveling to Indonesia.

The mission took place at Crowne Plaza Pune City Centre by IHG, India on Friday, September 4, 2026. It followed Indonesia's participation in ITB India 2026 in Mumbai.

The event connected Indonesian tourism sellers with potential buyers from Pune. Travel agents and tour operators participated in the business-to-business meetings.

Buyers showed strong interest in free independent traverer (FIT), honeymoon/couples, and luxury tourism. Popular destinations included Bali, Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan, and Gili-Lombok.

Tourism Marketing Deputy Ni Made Ayu Marthini, highlighted strong market interest. “The transaction potential above Rp12.8 billion shows strong interest from Pune tourists," Marthini said in a written statement on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

She further said Indonesian tourism products matched preferences in the Indian market. Improved destination accessibility also helped attract buyers during the mission.

Pune was selected because of its rapidly growing economy and population. The city has more than seven million metropolitan residents, according to Marthini.

Maharashtra has India's largest state gross domestic product, reaching about 650 billion dollars. The region therefore offers travelers strong financial capacity for international trips.

Indonesia brought 12 tourism companies offering products across numerous destinations. Participants included destination managers, hotels, tour operators, and a restaurant.

The ministry aims to expand business networks between Indonesian and Indian tourism industries. It also seeks wider inclusion of Indonesian destinations in Indian travel catalogs.
