RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is expanding support for national and international events to strengthen tourism and the creative economy. The update was delivered during the Government Press Conference: Priority Program Updates and National Tourism Enhancement in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The Indonesian government has supported dozens of events throughout 2026 under its event development program. The initiative aims to attract visitors while creating broader economic opportunities across the country.

Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, said the ministry has supported 45 national events and 94 international events this year. Several major international concerts and festivals are also scheduled during the second half of 2026.

"Throughout 2026, we have supported 45 national events and 94 international events. Major international concerts and festivals scheduled for the second half of 2026 include the BTS K-pop concert, Joyland Session, Prambanan Jazz Festival, We The Fest, Djakarta Warehouse Project, The Weeknd, and Hammersonic," she said.

Widiyanti added that ministry-supported events have generated strong public participation and significant economic activity nationwide. They have also involved thousands of MSMEs, artists, and members of creative communities.

"Meanwhile, 17 national events and eight international events supported by the Ministry of Tourism from January to June 2026 attracted more than 614,000 visitors, involved 1,326 MSMEs, and more than 18,000 artists and community members. Based on our calculations, these events generated an estimated economic circulation of Rp661.15 billion," she added.

Widiyanti also highlighted the economic contribution of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) events. Two completed impact assessments recorded transaction potential of Rp485.5 billion and foreign exchange potential of around Rp347.6 billion.

She expressed confidence that events would continue contributing positively to Indonesia's national economy through the end of 2026. She said their impact would become even greater through the multiplier effect they create.
