Safety Upgrades Boost Curug Genting’s Appeal in Central Java's Batang

RRI.CO.ID, Batang - Enhanced safety measures and upgraded facilities are helping Curug Genting (Genting Waterfall) in Batang, Central Java, regain its appeal as a favorite holiday destination, with visitor numbers surging during the school break.

Curug Genting manager Muklis Efendi said that attendance has risen significantly, averaging around 100 visitors per day during the holiday season compared to just 30 on regular days. The influx includes not only young travelers but also families with children and elderly visitors.

Recent improvements include sturdier stairways and protective railings along the path to the waterfall, making access safer and more comfortable.

“The steps used to be damaged, but now they’re neat and secure. Railings have also been installed so visitors feel safer,” Muklis explained, as quoted by InfoPublik.

Beyond infrastructure, disaster‑mitigation systems have been strengthened. Located in a mountainous area, Curug Genting is prone to rising water levels during heavy upstream rainfall.

To anticipate risks, managers coordinate with local residents monitoring weather conditions and use flood‑warning alarms and weather apps to ensure timely evacuation if needed.

The destination remains affordable, with entry tickets priced at IDR 5,000 per person and motorcycle parking at IDR 2,000. Food stalls are available on site, adding convenience for visitors.

Muklis hopes the government will improve road access, noting that narrow routes still pose challenges for vehicles. “We hope the roads can be widened so visitors feel more comfortable traveling here,” he said.

With its natural beauty, upgraded facilities, and enhanced safety systems, Curug Genting is expected to continue attracting more tourists while supporting the local economy in Batang Regency. ***
