Road Trip in Indonesia, Exploring the Southern Route of Java Island

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - What makes the South Java Route interesting? The answer lies in the combination of scenic roads and a series of tourist destinations stretching from Banten to East Java. Along this route, you can find popular beaches, hidden beaches, sunset spots, as well as camping locations and fresh seafood cuisine.
In general, this route connects the southern regions of Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java. The best time for a road trip is during the dry season, around May to September, to avoid the risk of rain. But, make sure to check the wave and weather conditions before you leave, okay, because the southern beach is known for its big waves.
1. Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang

Starting a road trip along the southern route from the western side of Java Island, as quoted by the press release of the Ministry of Tourism, Tanjung Lesung can be a very interesting choice. This destination is located in Tanjung Jaya Village, Panimbang District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, and is known as a beach tourism area with white sand, relatively calm sea, and a resort atmosphere suitable for family vacations or relaxing trips with friends. This area is also part of the Special Economic Zone for tourism, so its facilities are continuously being developed, ranging from hotels, villas, restaurants, recreational areas, to plans for marina development and new tourist attractions.
2. Pangandaran Beach, West Java

What is interesting about Pangandaran Beach? This place can be considered one of the iconic beach tourist destinations in the southern route of West Java. The beach is vast, the atmosphere is lively, and there are many activity options, ranging from playing in the sand, watching the sunrise and sunset, to enjoying seafood culinary tours. This beach is located in Pangandaran Regency, West Java, and is quite strategically positioned as a stopover point or even an overnight stay during a road trip.
3. Menganti Beach, Kebumen

Menganti Beach is located in Karangduwur Village, Ayah District, Kebumen Regency. Getting to Menganti is part of the adventure itself, as the path is steep and winding. But even so, all the fatigue will be instantly rewarded. The view of the beautiful stretch of monitoring line spanning 57.5 KM.
4. Parangtritis Beach and Cemara Cave, Yogyakarta

If your road trip takes you to the DIY region, there are two beaches that can offer different experiences. That is Parangtritis Beach, a place suitable for those who want to experience the legendary atmosphere of the southern beach, with its vast expanse of sand, the sound of big waves, and an iconic sunset ambiance. Meanwhile, Goa Cemara Beach offers a cooler and more unique atmosphere because its entrance is lined with alleys of pine trees that create a refreshing ambiance. Both are located in the Bantul region of Yogyakarta and are relatively easy to reach from the city center of Jogja.
5. Klayar Beach, Pacitan

What makes Klayar Beach different from other beaches? The answer lies in the coral formations, white sand, and the ocean whistle phenomenon that are characteristic of this place. When the waves crash against the rock crevices, the sound and spray of water that emerge create a truly unique atmosphere. Klayar Beach is located in Pacitan Regency, East Java, and is quite popular as one of the top destinations in the westernmost part of East Java. Upon arriving at the location, you can enjoy the view from the upper area, go down to the beach, or hunt for photos with the iconic coral rock backdrop.
