RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - Indonesia launched a collaborative commitment to develop the Ajisaka Hiking Trail under national standards. The declaration took place during the Commitment Declaration for National Standard Ajisaka Hiking Trail Development in Bogor on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The initiative brings together the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, Mount Halimun Salak National Park, local communities, and partners. It aims to create a safe, sustainable, transparent, inclusive, and collaborative hiking destination.

The declaration also supports the Mountain Revitalization Program initiated by the Directorate of Environmental Services Utilization. The program improves hiking tourism governance through national standards, stronger management, better facilities, and community participation.

Following the declaration, stakeholders will audit the Ajisaka Hiking Trail using Indonesia's National Standard SNI 8748:2019 for Mountain Hiking Management. The results will guide trail improvements, safety measures, visitor facilities, and digital services for hikers.

Head of the Environmental Services Utilization for Nature Tourism Subdirectorate, Directorate of Environmental Services Utilization, Ministry of Forestry, Johan Setiawan, said the program strengthens hiking management through collaboration. He emphasized the importance of balancing quality tourism with conservation.

"The Mountain Revitalization Program aims to improve the quality of hiking tourism management through the implementation of standards, strengthening managers' capacity, improving safety, and involving various stakeholders. We support the efforts of Mount Halimun Salak National Park to develop the Ajisaka Trail into a safe, high-quality hiking trail that meets national standards while maintaining the conservation function of the area," he said.

Head of Mount Halimun Salak National Park, Didid Sulastiyo, described the declaration as an important milestone for conservation tourism. He highlighted stronger cooperation among stakeholders to improve hiking management.

"Mount Halimun Salak National Park has the primary function of conservation. Therefore, hiking tourism development must provide a safe and high-quality visitor experience without reducing the area's protection function. Through this declaration, we want to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders to realize professional, nationally standardized, and sustainable hiking management," Didid said.

The development also promotes Zero Waste and Zero Accident principles across the hiking route. Indonesia expects the Ajisaka Trail to become a national model for sustainable hiking tourism in conservation areas while benefiting surrounding communities.
