RRI.CO.ID, Bandung – West Java Province has been named “Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Region of the Year” at the Halal In Travel Global Summit 2026, held recently in Singapore.
Organizers explained that the award is presented to regions within member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It recognizes those that demonstrate the most promising progress in developing internationally recognized Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystems.
Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Agency, Iendra Sofyan, said the achievement was the result of a comprehensive assessment process.
“The evaluation covered the availability of Muslim-friendly services and facilities, as well as administration support for tourism development. It also assessed the readiness of the tourism industry, including hotels, restaurants, destinations, and businesses,” he said on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
He added that promotion to Muslim tourist markets and innovative tourism programs were also part of the criteria. Iendra emphasized that the accomplishment was made possible through collaboration among tourism stakeholders, including business operators, local communities, the West Java Governor, the Ministry of Tourism, and CrescentRating, the event’s initiator.
“This award is dedicated to all visitors who come to West Java,” he said, noting that the recognition also serves as motivation to further enhance Muslim-friendly tourism in the province.
The West Java Provincial Administration hopes the award will elevate Indonesia’s tourism image globally. “We expect this recognition to have a positive impact on domestic tourism, particularly in West Java,” concluded Iendra. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
