RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia received the “Best Booth Design” award at the Seoul International Travel Fair 2026, one of East Asia’s largest travel exhibitions. This year, it featured participants from 41 countries and attracted more than 400,000 visitors.
Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday, June 8, 2026, that the award serves as an important milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s tourism promotion efforts in South Korea, currently Indonesia’s seventh-largest source of international visitors.
“In 2025, South Korean tourist arrivals to Indonesia reached 496,862 visits, an increase of 13.97 percent compared to the previous year. This positive trend continued in April 2026, with growth of 16.75 percent compared to the previous month,” Ni Made said.
Through the “Go Beyond Ordinary” campaign, Indonesia showcased eight tourism industry representatives promoting leading destinations including Batam, Bali, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Flores, North Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara. Promotional efforts focused on tourism products that are particularly popular among South Korean travelers, including wellness tourism, luxury tourism, marine tourism, and gastronomic tourism.
She explained that Bali remains the most popular destination among South Korean visitors, followed by Labuan Bajo and Manado. Throughout SITF 2026, visitors showed strong enthusiasm for the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion, whose design effectively showcased Indonesia’s identity in a distinctive and engaging way.
In addition, the Indonesia Coffee Corner became one of the exhibition’s major attractions. The activation featured a variety of Indonesia’s signature coffees, including Gayo Coffee, Toraja Coffee, and Mandailing Coffee, offering visitors a richer experience of Indonesia’s cultural heritage and culinary diversity.
Beyond consumer-focused activities (B2C), SITF 2026 also hosted a travel mart (B2B), bringing together tourism industry stakeholders from Indonesia and South Korea to explore business partnerships and market development opportunities.
From the series of events held from June 4–7, 2026, Indonesia recorded 4,970 potential tourist visits (potential pax), with an estimated transaction value of Rp144 billion.
“South Korea is one of Indonesia’s priority tourism markets. Through our participation in SITF 2026, we continue promoting a range of flagship tourism products, from marine, wellness, and luxury tourism to gastronomy. This Best Booth Design award further strengthens Indonesia’s image as a world-class tourism destination in the South Korean market,” Ni Made said.
Indonesia’s participation in SITF 2026 is expected to further strengthen the Wonderful Indonesia brand in South Korea, expand tourism industry collaboration between the two countries, and increase South Korean visitor arrivals to Indonesia’s leading destinations, ultimately contributing to the growth of the national tourism sector.
