RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta – Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, presented halal certificates to five representatives of MSME entrepreneurs in Jatimulyo Tourism Village, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region, as part of efforts to strengthen a high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable halal tourism ecosystem.

The halal certificate handover, held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, was a follow-up to the strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the Food and Beverage Agency (BPJPH) in a program to accelerate halal certification for MSME products in tourist villages.

She stated that this handover demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening the halal industry and tourism ecosystem in Indonesia, especially for MSMEs.

"Our presence today is not only to hand over halal certificates, but also to affirm our shared commitment to building a tourism ecosystem that is increasingly high-quality, inclusive, and provides direct benefits to the community," Minister Widiyanti said.

This accelerated halal certification program has been running since July 2025 through pilot projects in 20 tourist villages. Since the end of 2025, the program has been expanded to 1,500 tourist villages across Indonesia, including Jatimulyo Tourism Village.

As of May 30, 2026, Jatimulyo Tourism Village has achieved 123 MSME entrepreneurs and 139 products that have successfully obtained halal certification. Nationally, the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the BPJPH has resulted in 31,548 halal certificates in 1,116 tourist villages across 34 provinces.

This program also supports the strengthening of 15 provinces participating in the Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI) 2025. According to Tourism Minister Widiyanti, this achievement is worthy of gratitude because behind each halal certificate lies a process of business mentoring, product quality improvement, and the opening of broader economic opportunities for the community, particularly in tourist villages.

The Special Region of Yogyakarta itself ranks fifth nationally in the number of halal certificates issued, after Central Java, West Java, Banten, and Riau. The Minister of Tourism explained that halal certification not only increases trust, comfort, and service quality for tourists but also provides real added value for the community and businesses.
