RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, has ensured the readiness of facilities and services at the Prambanan Temple complex and Yogyakarta Tugu Station ahead of the school holiday period to provide comfort and safety for travelers. During a working visit to the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Saturday, she inspected a number of public service facilities and tourist destinations to ensure smooth services for tourists and transportation users.
“I personally observed the conditions at these two locations. Safety and comfort remain the primary concerns of all tourism stakeholders, including the transportation sector, tourist destinations, hotels, restaurants, and other supporting services, so that the public can enjoy an optimal travel experience,” Widiyanti said in an official statement on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
At the Prambanan Temple complex, the Minister reviewed several key service points, including ticket counters for domestic and international visitors, to ensure that ticket purchasing processes run quickly, orderly, and efficiently. Based on observations at the site, the Prambanan area was bustling yet orderly, with tourist arrivals continuing to increase ahead of the school holiday season.
In addition to reviewing ticketing services, she also inspected buggy transportation facilities for visitors, the Prambanan Temple Museum, and Brahma Field, which will serve as one of the venues for the 2026 Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet (WIG) event series.
Then, Minister Widiyanti, visited Yogyakarta Tugu Station, one of the main railway transportation hubs on Java Island. At the station, she inspected various service facilities, including the face recognition system designed to speed up passenger boarding, free drinking water refill stations, luggage storage services, lost-and-found facilities, a children’s playground, a health clinic, and a lactation room.
She also praised the presence of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) product displays facilitated by KAI Wisata as part of efforts to support community economic development through the tourism and transportation sectors.
“We appreciate the preparedness of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) and PT KAI Daop 6, which continue to innovate in providing safe, comfortable, and high-quality services for the public,” Widiyanti said.
To accommodate the expected surge in tourist mobility during the school holiday season, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has prepared a number of strategic measures, including additional train services, optimization of train compositions, and the deployment of additional service personnel at various operational points.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, these service improvements were reflected during the 2026 Eid transportation period, when KAI served more than five million passengers, an increase of eight percent compared to the same period in 2025. The Ministry is also encouraging domestic travel through its “A New Way to Vacation” campaign, which offers various travel options, including educational tourism, intercity road trips, village tourism exploration, and cultural and culinary experiences.
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced MaIA, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based platform available through Indonesia.travel, to help travelers plan their trips and obtain destination recommendations tailored to their needs. Through the campaign, the government hopes the public will take advantage of the school holiday period to travel while gaining a deeper appreciation of Indonesia’s cultural richness and natural beauty.
