RRI.CO.ID, Muara Enim - For many families in South Sumatra, the Eid al-Adha holiday is not just a time for prayer and sacrifice, but also a rare opportunity to travel. This year, hundreds made the journey to one of the region's most cherished natural escapes, drawn by cool mountain water, lush greenery, and a setting that feels worlds away from everyday life.

The Curup Tenang Bedegung Waterfall in Bedegung Village, Panang Enim Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, drew visitors from across the region during the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah holiday period. Crowds of adults and children alike filled the site on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Among them was Fitri, a resident of Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, who made the trip with her family specifically because of its accessibility. "On the second day of Eid al-Adha, my family and I chose to holiday at Curup Tenang Bedegung because it is not too far from Baturaja City," she said.

She described the natural surroundings as refreshing, dense green trees, plantation landscapes, and cold water flowing down from the clefts of the Bukit Barisan mountain range. Beyond swimming, her family made use of the bridge in the middle of the waterfall as a photography spot and relaxed in the gazebos provided at the site.

The scene on the ground reflected the destination's broad appeal. Hundreds of visitors of all ages were seen enjoying the panorama, with many opting not just for a swim but also for white-water rafting, an activity made available by the site's management.

Quoting Antara, Muara Enim Deputy Regent, Sumarni, described the waterfall as a precious community asset that must be collectively protected and well managed. She expressed hope that it would grow into a leading tourist destination capable of drawing visitors from both within and beyond the region.

She stressed the importance of consistently maintaining service quality, cleanliness, and high safety standards for the comfort of all visitors.

"Synergy between the subdistrict administration, the village, the regional technical implementation unit management, and the surrounding community is expected to continue running well so that this tourist site is always well-organized, comfortable, and safe to visit at any time," she said. ***
