Government Encourages the Travel Industry for Quality Tourism

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism officially opened the 2026 National Working Meeting of the Alliance of the Indonesian Tour & Travel Agencies (AITTA). Vice Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa encouraged travel industry players to strengthen collaboration with the government to promote quality, safe, and competitive Indonesia's tourism amidst global challenges.
"I congratulate AITTA and all its members for holding this National Working Meeting today. We at the Ministry of Tourism sincerely hope that concrete and implementable recommendations will emerge for the advancement of the Indonesian tourism sector," Ni Luh Puspa said.
In her remarks at the opening of the AITTA National Working Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Wamenpar explained that the global tourism sector, including Indonesia, is currently facing significant challenges due to global geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics. Nevertheless, Indonesia's tourism performance in the first quarter of 2026 continued to show a positive trend.
She reported that the number of international tourist visits reached 3.4 million, representing an 8 percent increase. Meanwhile, domestic tourist movements reached 319.51 million trips, an increase of 13.14 percent compared to the previous period.
According to the Vice Minister, this achievement is the result of collaborative efforts between the government and tourism industry players. "We also exceeded our 2025 target, and I am confident that all these achievements can be achieved thanks to strong collaboration with tourism industry players," she said.
The Ministry of Tourism has also established five flagship programs for 2026: Synergy for Improving Tourism Safety; Tourism Villages; Quality Tourism; Events by Indonesia; and Tourism 5.0. These programs are designed to support the development of quality, sustainable, inclusive tourism, and adapt to global trends.
The Vice Minister underscored that tourist safety and comfort are crucial in strengthening the quality of destinations. Therefore, business compliance with regulations and permits is considered crucial to support oversight and ensure tourist safety.
