RRI.CO.ID, Banyuwangi - The Banyuwangi Regency Administration in East Java has launched a new weekend program titled Senja di Agrowisata Taman Suruh (Senja di AWT) or Sunset at Agrotourism Taman Suruh. Located in Taman Suruh Village, Glagah District, this agrotourism destination sits at an elevation of 450 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views at the foot of the iconic Mount Ijen.
Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani explained that the program is designed to provide an affordable and inclusive afternoon leisure option while simultaneously boosting the local economy. "This program is designed as an affordable and inclusive afternoon travel alternative," Regent Ipuk said on Monday, May 4, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The Senja di AWT initiative effectively transforms the agrotourism site into a vibrant cultural hub where visitors can explore an array of traditional Banyuwangi culinary delights alongside modern snacks.
Among the featured traditional dishes, guests can enjoy local savory specialties such as rujak soto and kesrut. Additionally, the program offers a variety of classic options, including gado-gado (traditional Indonesian salad) and the sweet kue cucur gula merah, providing a comprehensive taste of the region's gastronomic heritage.
Beyond food, the program serves as a platform for over 50 local MSMEs and numerous artists. Visitors can engage with live sketch sessions, art exhibitions, and direct interactions with creators, fostering a community-centric tourism environment.
To enhance the atmosphere, the administration has integrated various family-friendly attractions and live performances into the event's schedule. Guests can enjoy live music featuring acoustic performances perfectly timed to accompany the scenic sunset.
The program also highlights traditional arts, offering visitors a chance to witness showcases of local heritage and impressive martial arts demonstrations. Furthermore, the inclusion of family zones ensures that visitors of all ages have access to newly designed playground facilities, making the destination a comprehensive recreational space.
Senja di AWT is set to become a regular fixture on the Banyuwangi tourism calendar. It will be held every weekend, from Friday to Sunday, during the first week of every month. The activities run from 15.00 to 21.00 local time, allowing guests to experience the transition from a scenic afternoon to a lively evening cultural market.
Through this initiative, the local government aims to create a comfortable gathering space that supports the growth of both the creative arts sector and small businesses in the region. ***
