RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has officially introduced a comprehensive guide for tourism professions, marking a significant step toward standardizing labor quality across the nation’s travel sector.
The new framework, developed in collaboration with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), establishes 483 national occupational schemes across 34 diverse tourism fields. It aims to synchronize educational outputs with global industry demands.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana unveiled the initiative during the "Real Action for the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Training" event in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
The Minister emphasized that these occupational schemes are central to a broader strategy to accelerate the quality of human resources through vocational education.
The standardized guide is set to become an accessible resource for professionals and educators alike, with the ministry confirming on Thursday, April 23, that the documents will be made available for download on its official website.
The urgency of this standardization is underscored by the sector's massive employment capacity. As of August 2025, the tourism industry has successfully absorbed approximately 25.91 million workers, making it a cornerstone of the national economy.
By implementing a more structured professional framework, the government aims to ensure that this vast workforce meets the high competency levels required to maintain Indonesia's competitiveness on the international stage.
