RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has reaffirmed its collaboration with Swisscontact, focusing on the rigorous enhancement of vocational education and training within the national Tourism Polytechnic network.
This initiative was highlighted during a high-level Steering Committee Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. It marks a significant step toward creating an integrated educational ecosystem that ensures graduates are not only skilled but immediately absorbable into the workforce.
The partnership, which originated in 2018, is currently entering its second phase, spanning from 2024 to 2027. This stage is specifically designed to broaden the program's impact and institutionalize successful training models as a permanent fixture of Indonesia’s vocational system.
The Deputy for Resources and Institutions at the Ministry of Tourism, Martini Mohamad Paham, emphasized that the ultimate goal is the career readiness of the students.
“Therefore, it is important for all parties to ensure that the cooperation established can provide real benefits for students in entering the world of work, especially in the tourism sector," said Martini in an official confirmation in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.
To achieve this, the collaboration introduces several innovative pedagogical approaches, including Industry-Based Curricula, Project-Based Learning, and specialized tracks such as the Young Professional Program and Adult Learning Program. These frameworks are engineered to heighten the adaptability and competitiveness of graduates in an increasingly volatile global market.
Martini noted that Tourism Polytechnic holds a strategic position in molding human capital that is both innovative and impact-oriented, which is essential for the long-term sustainability of Indonesian tourism.
The Steering Committee Meeting served as a forum for various stakeholders, including representatives from SECO Indonesia, the Indonesian Dual System Vocational Practitioners Association, and the Wise Steps Foundation.
Together, they reviewed ongoing achievements and charted future strategies to ensure the institutionalization of these programs across all Tourism Polytechnic campuses. By strengthening the commitment of these institutions, the Ministry aims to foster a more resilient human resource infrastructure.
“This step is important to accelerate the development of superior human resources capable of supporting sustainable and globally competitive Indonesian tourism,” concluded Martini. ***
