Trans Padang Turns Daily Commute into a Scenic Journey

Trans Padang’s Corridor 2 (K2) route has become a distinctive feature of the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, combining affordability and accessibility with sweeping views of the southern coastline.

Stretching 38 kilometers, the K2 route passes through Teluk Bayur before ending at Sungai Pisang (Bungus Teluk Kabung), with scenic stops along popular destinations such as Nirwana Beach and Carolina Beach.

The service begins at RTH (Green Open Space) Imam Bonjol shelter on Hasanuddin Street, just 300 meters from Padang’s city center. Students, workers, and tourists alike benefit from its affordability and convenience.

Zahra, a university student and regular passenger, highlighted the appeal. “Trans Padang really helps, especially the K2 route which goes the farthest," she said.

" As a student, it’s affordable, clean, and comfortable. I never get bored traveling this way, and it saves me from using private transport when heading to the coast,” she added.

Beyond its scenic charm, Trans Padang reflects the broader goals of Indonesia’s BRT systems -- such as Transjakarta and Trans Jogja -- which are designed to ease congestion, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and promote cleaner air through efficient, safe, and reliable service.
