RRI.CO.ID, Serang - The Banten Provincial Administration has announced plans to continue the strategic revitalization of the Banten Sultanate heritage sites to bolster the region's cultural, historical, and religious tourism potential.

Governor Andra Soni shared this vision during the Grand Haul (commemorative anniversary) of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin at the Great Mosque of the Banten Sultanate in Kasemen, Serang, on Monday night, March 30, 2026.

The Governor emphasized that preserving these landmarks is essential for maintaining Banten’s identity while driving regional progress. He called for synergy among all stakeholders to support the conservation of the historic "Banten Lama" (Old Banten) area.

“The revitalization program is to increase the potential of the Banten Sultanate's heritage. The Banten Provincial Administration continues to support cultural preservation, continuing to strengthen unity towards a province that is advanced, fair, equitable, and free of corruption),” Governor Andra Soni said, as quoted by Infopublik.id.

Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, the son of Sunan Gunung Jati, was the founder and first ruler of the Banten Sultanate. Under his leadership, Banten transformed into a globally influential port city, serving as a primary maritime hub connecting trade from India, Arabia, China, and across the Indonesian archipelago.

The Governor highlighted that the Sultan's leadership serves as a timeless model for governance and regional development. “The Haul serves as a reinforcement to continue emulating his struggle and leadership in our daily lives,” he added.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, who advocated for the Grand Haul to be developed into a national-scale event to attract visitors from across Indonesia. He noted that the history of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin provides a profound "hikmah" (wisdom) that remains relevant to modern nation-building.

The Deputy Minister outlined three historical pillars established by the Sultan that serve as a comprehensive blueprint for a balanced society.

The political pillar is embodied by the Surosowan Palace, representing the administrative and leadership heart of the sultanate. The spiritual pillar is symbolized by the Great Mosque, which stands as the foundation for the community's religious and moral life.

Finally, the economic pillar is represented by the Karangantu Port, reflecting the region's historical role as a thriving center for global and local trade.

“So that our nation has an identity, becomes a great nation, becomes a formidable nation,” Agus Jabo Priyono remarked, stressing that these values are key to reclaiming local wisdom and national greatness.

Through this continued revitalization, the Banten administration aims to ensure that the Sultanate’s legacy remains a vibrant center for education, spirituality, and economic growth for future generations. ***
