RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - During the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season, the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan recorded a massive influx of visitors, signaling that the city is successfully positioning itself as more than just a government administrative hub.

As of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the IKN Authority (OIKN) reported that 143,126 people had entered the city limits, drawn by a nearly complete array of modern amenities ranging from diverse culinary spots to high-tech information centers.

"As of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, vehicles entering the IKN area were recorded at 30,544 units, with a total of 143,126 visitors," said Troy Pantouw, Special Staff for Public Communication and Spokesperson for the OIKN, in Nusantara on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The surge in tourism is fueled by the rapid deployment of essential and leisure facilities. Visitors now have access to houses of worship, restaurants, cafes, and minimarkets. Local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have also found a home in specialized stalls throughout the district.

Troy emphasized that the goal is to provide a seamless and memorable experience for the public. "The various facilities available in the IKN area are part of our efforts to provide the best service, because we want to ensure the community can enjoy their visit comfortably, safely, and memorably," he said.

The city’s Ceremonial Plaza has become a focal point for the holiday festivities.

"Throughout the Ceremonial Plaza, in the Government Core Area, during this 2026 Eid holiday, visitors can enjoy various culinary options. Ranging from restaurants, cafes, minimarkets, to MSME tents and stalls serving various snacks, food, and drinks," Troy added.

Beyond dining, Nusantara Park offered a cultural feast with music and dance performances held from afternoon until dusk. For those seeking an educational experience, the Sentra Massa building houses the Nusantara Information Center, featuring mini-theaters showing construction progress, weather and traffic control monitors, and architectural models.

Even traditional Indonesian heritage was on full display to keep families entertained.

"For children and families, various traditional games such as egrang (stilts), bakiak (wooden clogs) races, and gobak sodor are available to participate in at the amphitheater area in front of Sentra Massa, located directly opposite the IKN State Palace," Troy noted. ***
