RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta’s Old Town area recorded a surge in tourist numbers during the 2026 Eid holiday, with thousands of visitors flocking to the historic site beginning on the second day after Eid al-Fitr.
Head of the Old Town Area Management Unit (UPK), Denny Aputra, said visitor numbers reached around 19,000 on the second day after Eid. “The number continued to increase until the fourth day after Eid, reaching around 23,000 visitors. Compared to last year, the number of visitors is higher this year,” Denny said in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
He explained that the rise in visits was partly driven by entertainment programs in the Old Town, including light art performances. “On D+1 and D+2, there was a special Balle Keroncong performance. Residents sang along, making the event livelier. On D+3 and D+4, a band from the Jakarta Old Town Community performed,” he said.
Denny added that there are no special rules for visitors who want to tour Kota Tua. Operating hours have even been extended by one hour in the evening, until 10 p.m. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
