RRI.CO.ID, Denpasar - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has become one of the public’s preferred routes during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr travel period. This is marked by an increase in aircraft and passenger traffic during the initial operational phase of this year’s transportation command post.

To support the surge, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation is conducting intensive oversight of air transportation at Ngurah Rai Airport. The monitoring aims to ensure services operate safely and in an orderly manner, in line with national aviation safety standards.

Head of the Bali Region IV Airport Authority Office, Cecep Kurniawan, said Ngurah Rai International Airport continues to coordinate with the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), AirNav Indonesia, the Immigration Office, airport operators, and air transport companies.

“To ensure the safety, security, and operational comfort of flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport during the 2026 Eid travel period,” Cecep said in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

The coordination involves multiple parties to maintain smooth flight operations during the significant increase in passenger volume. With these measures, Ngurah Rai Airport is considered prepared to meet public needs during the holiday period.

According to the command post report, aircraft movements reached 1,842 flights between March 13 and 17, 2026, an increase of 8.36 percent compared to the same period last year. Passenger numbers during the same period reached 306,749, up 3.03 percent from the previous year, reflecting strong public interest in traveling to Bali.

These figures confirm Bali as one of the main destinations for people planning holidays during Eid al-Fitr 2026, with the rise in passenger numbers also showing continued reliance on air travel as the primary mode of transportation. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
