RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is finalizing its tourism strategy ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, focusing on boosting travel and strengthening the local economy.

The Ministry of Tourism has prepared a range of tourism packages to encourage public mobility during the holiday period. Deputy for Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini said, Eid al-Fitr marks one of the peak travel seasons in Indonesia, making it a strategic moment to optimize tourist movement and economic activity.

“We believe this movement will generate positive economic impacts for the community, especially for MSME entrepreneurs,” Made said in Jakarta on Thursday, March 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She explained that increased mobility not only affects the transportation sector but also expands business opportunities, with MSMEs benefiting most within the tourism chain. The ministry has coordinated and curated tourism packages in collaboration with around 40 industry players, primarily targeting air travelers.

The public is encouraged to choose domestic destinations through the “Proud to Travel in Indonesia” campaign, which aims to strengthen the resilience of the national tourism sector.

Made also highlighted the role of online travel agencies in maintaining service quality, stressing the importance of accurate ticket price information across all modes of transportation. “If there are on-the-ground conditions, we hope these can be communicated effectively so they can be clarified based on applicable policies,” she said.

Meanwhile, the government is working to lower airfare prices to improve public access to travel. Deputy for Connectivity Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Odo Manuhutu, said the initiative includes adjustments to aviation cost structures and regulatory relaxations.

The government is also providing incentives such as discounts on airport services, aviation fuel, and non-tax revenue charges. Through these measures, airfare prices are targeted to drop by 17–18 percent, which is expected to drive a surge in travel during the Eid holiday. ***
