RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana inspected the readiness of museums in Jakarta ahead of the 2026 Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holidays. The visit took place at three sites, which are the Kebangkitan Nasional Museum, Indonesia National Gallery, and Indonesia National Museum.
Minister Widiyanti noted that millions of residents are expected to skip the traditional homecoming for Eid al-Fitr 2026, creating opportunities for in-city tourism destinations. She highlighted numerous appealing and educational local attractions, including museums.
“To the people of Indonesia, let’s explore domestic tourism. Our cities offer excellent and educational attractions, such as museums,” the Minister said on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
She emphasized museums' strong potential as alternative holiday spots for those staying in Jakarta. In particular, modern museums have evolved into interactive, inclusive recreational spaces relevant to diverse audiences.
During the visit, the minister reviewed visitor flow management, queuing systems, and exhibition space capacity to ensure comfort amid crowds. She also focused on public facility cleanliness and security measures.
The minister stressed the importance of integrating digital services in museums, including ticket purchases and visitor information. She praised museum managers' preparations for the extended holidays, such as immersive spaces at the National Museum.
To prepare for the long holiday, the Tourism Ministry has conducted inspections at 170 destinations and organized 118 regional events under the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program.
“The public can check the event calendar and destination information on our official website at indonesia.co.id,” added Minister Widiyanti.
Through these initiatives, the Tourism Ministry continues to promote domestic destinations as more than just entertaining recreation spots. These locations serve as vital venues that enrich knowledge and foster national cultural pride. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
