RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has stepped up visits to destinations across Indonesia to strengthen promotion efforts and ensure readiness ahead of the upcoming Nyepi (Hindu's Day of Silence) and Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2026.
During a site visit to the Blok M area in South Jakarta on Monday, March 16, 2026, Minister Widiyanti engaged with visitors at Taman Bendera Pusaka and emphasized the importance of direct inspections. She explained that the Ministry of Tourism is conducting on-the-ground reviews to assess management preparedness while boosting nationwide promotional outreach.
“We are carrying out visits to 165 locations, involving myself, the Deputy Minister, ministry deputies, tourism polytechnics, and tourism authorities under the Ministry. We want to make sure everyone is directly present in the field,” Minister Widiyanti said after her inspection in Blok M, as quoted by Antara.
She noted that the initiative is crucial for evaluating readiness in collaboration with local administrations and stakeholders, with a focus on cleanliness, safety, comfort, and security -- key factors in delivering quality tourism experiences.
Minister Widiyanti also highlighted that President Prabowo Subianto, during a recent cabinet meeting, underscored the importance of direct inspections and stronger promotion of Indonesia’s tourism potential.
“Preparations have been extensive, from coordination meetings to ensuring regional administrations and destination managers take concrete steps to handle the expected surge in visitors,” she added.
In Blok M, the minister was accompanied by finalists from Abang-None Jakarta 2025, the city’s annual tourism ambassador contest, to help promote the capital’s attractions. She visited several emerging public and creative spaces that have become popular urban destinations, including Taman Bendera Pusaka, M Bloc Space, Taman Literasi, and the Melawai culinary hub.
Minister Widiyanti praised these areas as examples of how urban spaces can evolve into vibrant tourism destinations, particularly for visitors seeking city-based experiences. “For those planning to explore Jakarta, especially South Jakarta, there are many exciting destinations and activities to enjoy,” she said.
She also encouraged travelers to access information and inspiration through Indonesia’s official tourism portal, www.indonesia.travel, and called on the public to play an active role in supporting tourism.
“Simple actions like not littering help maintain a pleasant environment. Let’s keep our destinations clean and share positive stories about Indonesia. Public support is vital for promoting sustainable, high-quality tourism,” the minister concluded. ***
