RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, has assured that Indonesian tourism destinations remain safe for tourists amidst global dynamics and developments in the Middle East. The government continues to closely monitor the situation. Tourism Minister Widiyanti was accompanied by Vice Tourism Minister, Ni Luh Puspa, at the Ministry of Tourism's Monthly Report in Jakarta.

In a press statement received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Minister explained that the tourism sector is closely linked to mobility and cross-border travel. Therefore, the dynamics occurring in various regions of the world, including the Middle East, can create uncertainty in international travel, both for tourists and the global tourism industry.

In response to this situation, the Ministry of Tourism continues to take adaptive measures to maintain the momentum of Indonesian tourism growth. One strategy formulated is adjusting market focus by strengthening promotions in countries with stable travel access, such as East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

In addition to shifting target markets, the Ministry of Tourism is also intensifying the promotion of Indonesian tourism through more extensive digital campaigns, increasing the organization of various international activities and events, and strengthening domestic tourist interest in traveling domestically.

Regarding the closure of airspace in the Middle East, which temporarily impacted travel for some tourists, the government has taken the necessary steps to ensure tourists can wait safely until their travels can resume.

"We are also ensuring that tourists currently in Indonesia continue to receive good service and support," the Minister of Tourism stated.

Furthermore, the government is also collecting data on Disaster-Prone Tourist Attractions (DTW), with more than 4,700 DTWs across Indonesia already registered as part of risk mitigation efforts and ensuring tourist safety.

In an effort to strengthen the quality of tourism human resources, new student admissions for the Tourism Polytechnic have opened through the Joint Entrance Selection for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, with a quota of 2,166 out of a total of 3,610 seats. Registration is open from February 11 to May 1, 2026.

The Ministry of Tourism continues to strive for comprehensive and sustainable development of the tourism sector, ensuring it can provide memorable travel experiences while making a tangible contribution to the national economy.
