RRI.CO.ID, Muara Teweh - The Barito Utara Regency Administration is ramping up promotions for one of its most serene natural landmarks: the Panglima Batur Campground (Buper Panglima Batur). Located in Trahean Village, South Teweh Subdistrict, this destination has rapidly emerged as a favorite for travelers seeking a tranquil escape into Central Kalimantan’s lush landscape.

Nestled against the scenic backdrop of Dam Trahean, the campground offers a refreshing microclimate characterized by cool air and towering tropical greenery. The site is being positioned as a cornerstone of the regency's "quality tourism" push, catering to families, scouts, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

According to Head of the Barito Utara Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports Agency (Disbudparpora), Annisa Cahyawati, the site’s primary appeal lies in its preserved natural atmosphere.

“Panglima Batur Campground is one of the natural tourist areas that offers a beautiful, cool, and comfortable atmosphere for visitors. The area offers a natural atmosphere that is still green and cool, making it very suitable for recreation and outdoor activities,” said Annisa in Muara Teweh on Monday, March 9, as quoted by Antara.

Visitors can experience two distinct moods at the site, starting with Daylight Serenity, where morning sunlight filtering through dense canopies provides a picturesque setting for trekking and photography.

As the sun sets, the atmosphere shifts to Starlit Nights, as the open-sky layout offers clear views of the stars paired with crisp night air that makes it an ideal spot for camping and community gatherings.

To support its growing popularity, the local government has equipped the 120-meter expanse of the campground with essential infrastructure designed for large groups. These include spacious camping zones, an open hall for communal activities, clean water sources, a prayer room (mushola), and ample parking.

“Many people use this area for camping activities, scouting activities, to community activities. In addition, many families also come to relax and enjoy time together in the middle of a comfortable natural atmosphere,” Annisa added.

The strategy for Panglima Batur is to integrate it into the wider regional tourism network, linking it with other attractions like the Barito River cruises. By maintaining its "untouched" feel while providing modern amenities, the regency hopes to turn the campground into a proud icon of Barito Utara.

“We hope that Panglima Batur Campground can be one of the choices of tourist destinations for the community, both for family recreation activities and community activities, while also becoming one of the natural tourism icons that make Barito Utara Regency proud,” Annisa concluded. ***
