RRI.CO.ID, Padang – One of the attractions offered by this city is the opportunity to enjoy the view of Padang City from a height. One of the most popular spots for tourists is Mount Padang Hill.

From the top, visitors can enjoy an exotic panorama. The coastline and the entire city are clearly visible. Buildings, roads, and houses looks like miniatures. The Grand Mosque of Syech Ahmad Khatib Al-Minangkabawi appears tiny yet captivating. The vast expanse of the Indian Ocean is stunning. The blue sea seems to blend into the horizon.

Siti Nurbaya Park is at the top of this hill. Legend has it that this park is a reimagining of the place where Syamsul Bahri and Siti Nurbaya fell in love in the classic novel Siti Nurbaya by the renowned Padang writer Marah Rusli. There are benches in the spacious park, but visitors often lay out mats to relax.

Near the top of Mount Padang Hill is a tomb known locally as the Tomb of Siti Nurbaya. It is a major attraction for visitors interested in local legends.

There are also Japanese bunkers, which are evidence that the Japanese army used this hill as a defense base during World War II. The bunkers are located a few meters from the entrance to the Mount Padang Hill tourist attraction, and one of them contains a cannon.

The area is home to several primate species, including the long-tailed macaque. This adds to the location's natural tourist appeal. Groups of these monkeys often appear along the trail leading up to Mount Padang Hill. They have become accustomed to the presence of visitors, which adds to the enjoyment of the tour.
