RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism reported outstanding performance in the national tourism sector throughout 2025, with 154 international awards. This achievement serves as a strong foundation for the government to accelerate quality tourism programs in 2026.

Tourism Minister, Widyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized that this achievement solidifies Indonesia's position among the world's elite destinations. This was conveyed at a joint working meeting with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.

"Indonesian tourism received various awards in 2025, specifically 154 awards from various international organizations. This trend continues, with Bali recently being named the best destination in the world by TripAdvisor," Widyanti stated.

Entering the 2026 fiscal year, the Ministry of Tourism is shifting its focus to strengthening quality tourism and improving travel safety standards. This step was taken to address the trend in global tourist needs, which are now more selective and prioritize experience and safety.

The strategy will be implemented thru a series of concrete steps, including developing travel patterns, promoting Muslim-friendly tourism, and measuring the National Tourism Development Index.

"We are also designing an action plan for the National Tourism Destination Master Plan (RIDPN) and enhancing travel safety thru synergies in risk mitigation, digitalization, and area authority management," she said.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy remains consistent in implementing the five flagship programs that are the main pillars this year. These five pillars include improving tourism safety, developing tourism villages, strengthening quality tourism, organizing Event by Indonesia, and implementing Tourism 5.0.

Specifically for Tourism 5.0, this year the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will pay more attention to the digitalization of event permits. This is expected to make it easier for event organizers and increase the frequency of international-scale tourism events in Indonesia in a transparent and accountable manner.
