KBRN, Bandung: Ir. H. Djuanda Forest Park, also known as Tahura Djuanda, remains one of Bandung’s most popular natural destinations. Nestled in Dago Pakar, the area is renowned for its cool air and shady pine forests.
Spanning over 500 hectares, Tahura Djuanda is not only a tourist attraction but also a conservation and environmental education zone.
Visitors can explore a range of sites, including the Ir. H. Djuanda Monument, Curug Dago (Dago Waterfall), Curug Omas (Omas Waterfall), and the historic Japanese and Dutch caves, which preserve the memory of the nation’s struggle.
The park also houses Timor and spotted deer, a favorite draw for families. Many visitors enjoy feeding the deer while taking in the refreshing forest atmosphere.
Along the trails, groups of monkeys roam freely and often approach the road in search of food from tourists. Visitors are advised to exercise caution and avoid feeding them indiscriminately. Stalls selling snacks and drinks line parts of the trail, adding to the lively atmosphere.
For photography and adventure enthusiasts, Keraton Cliff, located near the park, offers breathtaking panoramic views from above. Its lush greenery makes it a favorite spot for tourists seeking dramatic landscapes.
Beyond recreation, Tahura serves as a center for research and environmental education. School and university students frequently visit to study the ecosystem and learn about the importance of forest preservation.
With its natural beauty, historical significance, and educational value, the Ir. H. Djuanda Grand Forest Park stands as a source of pride for Bandung Regency, West Java. It demonstrates that tourism can coexist harmoniously with nature conservation. (Misni Parjiati/Ed. Lasti Martina)
