KBRN, Lombok Tengah: Exciting new water sport attractions are slated to launch soon at the Kuta Beach Park (KBP) area within the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to boost tourist visits to the region.

"This is part of Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC)’s continuous efforts to strengthen the area’s appeal through experience-based tourism, especially supporting the development of sport tourism and marine tourism," said Wahyu M Nugroho, General Manager of The Mandalika, in a written statement in Mataram on Thursday, June 5, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The introduction of these water sports was formalized by signing a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the Utilization of RR 2 Beach Facility Space between ITDC and PT Ocean Addict Lombok Indonesia.

"The water sport activities in the Kuta Beach Park (KBP) area mark The Mandalika as an investment magnet in sport tourism," he added.

ITDC hoped these water sports would introduce various new activities for domestic and international tourists, specifically within the watersports sector.

As part of a sustainable attraction development, Kuta Beach Park will offer visitors a range of non-motorized water sport options, including stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, kiteboarding, and windsurfing.

"These activities are not only environmentally friendly but also provide a direct, closer-to-nature experience," he emphasized.

The presence of water sport activities in the heart of the beach area is expected to diversify tourists’ options, increase their length of stay, and create a direct economic impact for the local community and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) around the area.

"This cooperation will last for five years, effective from June 2025 to May 2030," he noted.

Throughout this period, the implementation of the cooperation will be evaluated regularly every six months to ensure that the utilization of the space aligns with the vision and goals of developing The Mandalika as "The Ultimate Lifestyle Sportstainment Destination."

"This is our concrete step in orchestrating an area that is visually appealing and rich in experience. The Mandalika is not just built to be visited, but to be enjoyed, explored, and to become a space for mutual growth between tourists and the local community," he concluded. ***
