Govt: Indonesia's Digital Connectivity Coverage Reaches Over 90 Percent

RRI.CO.ID, Bandung – Indonesia's digital connectivity coverage has now reached more than 90 percent. Vice Minister of Communication and Digital, Angga Raka Prabowo, delivered the statement during a press statement following the 81st Postel Hari Bhakti Commemoration Ceremony at the PT Pos Indonesia Head Office Courtyard in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

He stated that the government is now directing development beyond mere expansion of coverage. Angga emphasized that improving service quality is equally vital to ensure that connectivity delivers tangible benefits to the public.

"The achievement right now is that almost more than 90 percent of connectivity is covered. But as I mentioned earlier, we are not only talking about connectivity itself; we are talking about how to make the quality better," he said.

According to the Vice Minister, enhancing connectivity quality requires synergy between the government and the industry amidst rapid technological advancements. This collaboration forms an integral part of efforts to provide better digital telecommunications infrastructure and ecosystems.

"Synergy between the government and the industry is needed. Today, technological progress is moving so fast, and this is the exact spirit that we are fostering," he said.

One of the steps being taken is the utilization of the 700 MHz frequency to expand 4G service coverage and eliminate remaining blank spots. This frequency is considered crucial for cellular operators in strengthening service coverage.

"Recently, we just released the 700 MHz and 2,600 MHz frequencies. The 700 MHz frequency is very important for our friends in cellular operators and the communication sector for area coverage, specifically how 700 MHz is utilized for 4G technology to cover all of our blank spot areas," he revealed.

Meanwhile, the 2,600 MHz frequency is directed toward driving improvements in 5G service quality. The government has auctioned this frequency, and all cellular operators have now acquired it.

"The 2,600 MHz is for our leap forward, for 5G quality. As we know, our 5G coverage is still not widespread. With this 2,600 MHz, we have deployed it, and all cellular operators already own it," Angga stated.

The government targets 5G technological development in Indonesia to expand significantly and improve over the next three years, with a primary focus on enhancing public service quality.
